New pair of Horsefields
Posted: 14/12/2010 by Kirstie

Having collected our beautiful pair of Horsfields from the lovely Helen, all seems well with  Samantha and Jessica (named by Ella aged 8) Been on tortoise watch most of the day. Lights on at 7 am this morning, breakfast was served at 8am, with a pinch of nutrabol and limestone flour.  Not too much activity during the day, just sleeping around their heat lamp. Bit of digging this afternoon, demolished and ate the spider plant cutting. A wee was discovered on the tile, didnt have any white texture in it though???? A poo was also discovered!! Then PANIC!! We have a tortoise missing. . lol. . . nearly completely buried in the soil/sand. . .assuming this is totally normal. She was then ready for her bath as she was very dirty. . .seem to like their baths, 20 mins with regular topping up of warmer water. Nice cuddle and chin stroked then off to bed with lights out at 630pm. Been and checked and both asleep inside house tonight, buried in corner with one on top of the other, is this normal too????Click and drag me down to the editor.

Hi Kirstie Click and drag me down to the editor

Sounds like you have a happy household. From what I have read your torts are doing exactly what Horsfields do best, dig and escape. Look forward to seeing some piccies of Samantha & Jessica

SamanthaJessicaHappy in their home

Not sure if these pictures will look any good, jusy trying to work out how to upload pics in a simple way.

ANother day of digging n hiding. Samantha is much more alert than Jessica, who seems content in digging herself into a corner and sleeping a lot. Been strict with food as i know how greedy they can be.

Aww lovely to see them in their new home and so pleased they are settling in so well with you. If you like you can put Jessica near her lamp on a morning to help her warm up. I need to do this with one of her siblings.

Hi Helen

Yeah moved Jessica to the lamp this morning, she slept in the house on her own whilst Samantha dug down a bit and slept in main area of table. Not noticed a poo from yesterday????? Just been up and checked them, both asleep and all food gone lol.

Hi Kirstie i only have 1 little baby called Urwin, he is four now! he was quite poorly a little while ago, ( you can read his story on here ) thought i was going to loose him for a while, very scary BUT!! he has bounced back with avengence Click and drag me down to the editor lol there is no stopping him now! i am sure he knows what i am saying to him ( maybe wishful thinking ) as he has the run of upstairs ( under supervision ) and as soon as i say "come on Urwin yum! yums! he heads straight back to his cage! it's hysterical to see him! he is so cheeky. Hope you have as much fun with your two baby's, good luck  Angie x
