Combined bulb help

Hi

I am hopefully getting my 1 year old spur thigh at the weekend. I would like to know if the combined bulb of uv and heat is ok or do people recommend 2 separate bulbs? I've been told the single bulb could kill my tortoise?!? Thank you in advance.

Hello, 

Yes a 100W UVB bulb [e.g. Megaray], is ideal. If set up properly, it would not kill your tortoise, that is nonsense, ignore further advice from that person.

I trust that you will be obtaining your tort from a bona fide breeder, the alternative is risky.

Does this mega Ray bulb need a reflector or can it hang at 90 degrees just as it is?

At 90° in a reflector.
