Help needed please, ive got a 4ft by 2ft indoor rabbit cage for a hermanns tortoise but im having trouble with my Mega Ray 160w sb bulb.I cant seem to get the right temperature in the basking site,at the minimum height of 18 inchs.Ive put two digital thermometers with probes under the light but they only read about 25c,my room temp is 18c.

Hi, are you taking the temp reading from the top of the torts shell (not the floor of the cage?) this may raise it a little.
If you still are not reaching the 30-35C in the basking spot, you may have to add a separate basking lamp with an ordinary reflective spot bulb in.

Hi,thanks for replying.yeah ive taken the reading from approx the height of the tortoise(i havent had her yet).I left the bulb on last and this morning checked the temp reading, and the maximum temp was 27c.Looks like i will have to add another basking lamp.
