confused what do I do

I havent got a tortoise yet but from some of my sorces yu should put them in a cold enviroment but my book says that should put them in a warm enviroment for hibernation

Oh dear, someone has been giving you some very bad advice, I do hope they do not own a tortoise?
Well done for wanting to learn about owning a tortoise first to see if you can offer them the environment they need. Have a read of the care sheets from the link on the left hand side, you will find the information really good. Please ask as many questions as you like afterwards>

yes they do! infact they own nearly every species no wonder the tortoises you see in that book look grumpy

Mmmm no wonder:-(
They would never attain hibernation state in a warm environment and would literally just waste away. May I ask what book it is please?
