The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Exotic Animal Team are conducting a survey in 2010 into the incidence of faecal parasites and pre disposing factors in common species of chelonians.

If you would like to assist the R(D)SVS with their survey and at the same time obtain a free faecal screen for your tortoise, please follow the below links:-

Tortoise Faecal Project Questionnaire

The tortoise faecal project will run throughout 2010, from certain species only. These samples must be fresh.

  • The faeces should be placed in a leakproof solid container
  • This should be wrapped in sufficient absorbant material in case of breakage
  • This should then be placed in a ziplock bag
  • Place this in a jiffy bag
  • Clearly label the jiffy bag with the wording 'pathological specimen'
